The Origin
Two riders. One horse. Zero ego.
In 1119, nine knights made a vow in Jerusalem. They had no wealth, no palace, no army. They owned so little that two knights shared a single horse — and from that image came the original Templar seal: two riders, one mount, one mission.
They were called the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ. Poor by choice. Powerful by purpose. They guarded the roads so that pilgrims — ordinary people, the vulnerable, the faithful — could travel safely without fear of attack or robbery.

Every original Templar Knight took three sacred vows — not to a king or a fortune, but to a way of living. These vows are as powerful today as they were nine centuries ago.

A tribute to those who walked the road
For nearly two centuries, the Knights Templar made the pilgrimage routes of the medieval world passable. Without them, tens of thousands of ordinary people — merchants, families, the sick seeking healing, the faithful seeking hope — would never have reached their destination alive.
The roads were lawless. Bandits waited at every pass. A lone traveller had no protection, no recourse, no authority to appeal to. The Templars changed that. They built fortifications, patrolled the routes, and rode to the aid of strangers who had nothing to offer in return.

A Brief History
From Jerusalem to the streets of Manchester
The Order is founded
Nine knights take their vow of poverty, protection and service in Jerusalem. Two share a horse. The legend begins.
Papal recognition
Pope Innocent II grants the Templars independence — answerable to no king, only to their own sacred code.
The roads are made safe
At their peak, the Templars patrol the main pilgrim routes across the Holy Land. Thousands of lives are saved. No names recorded.
The betrayal
King Philip IV of France, drowning in debt to the Order, turns on them. The later Templars — by then powerful and wealthy — are dismantled by those who feared what they had become.
The White Knight is reborn
